The 30th anniversary of the Lego minifig

30 years ago Lego released its first modern Minifig, the previous ones were the same size but without moving legs or arms. Starting in 1978 with a cop, Lego has produced over 4 billion minifigs starting out with figures from town, castle and space sets to the modern licensed figures.

While every one had the same expression for the first eleven years, they now come in a wide array of expressions and faces.

Also head over to Gizmodo for a cool look at the making of Lego minifigs.

Happy Birthday Lego Bricks

50 years ago Lego Bricks were born and the rest is history. Starting with my first Duplo sets to the awesome space and castle sets when I was older, Lego made some of my favorite toys as a kid. Today the continue making some truly amazing sets are still one of the coolest toys around. Producing everything from their great castle and city sets to their licensed properties like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
