Is the Clone Wars as terrible as everyone says

Going into The Clone Wars, I was expecting to either be really annoyed or really dislike a lot of the movies. Most of the reviews I have seen have been fairly negative, though I have seen a few positive reviews out there. Maybe because I already knew of the problems, or maybe because I wasn't expecting anything more than a cartoon aimed at kids, I actually thought the movie was a lot of fun and pretty good.

Iron Man is an AWESOME beginning to this summer's movies

Most comic book movies that contain an origin story take a while to get going, but Iron Man has explosions right out of the gate. Now they do spend time developing Tony Stark and his transformation into Iron Man, but they develop his character throughout the movie and keep the movie exciting and action packed from beginning to end.

My Indiana Jones Haul

Today marked the beginning of the Indiana Jones toy deluge at stores in the US. While a few of the toys had slipped out prior to today, they were in full force at the stores. I stopped by Target first, but decided to go to Wal-Mart and save a few bucks. I passed on the 12" figures, because after seeing what is coming from Sideshow later this year, those figures aren't going to cut it. Instead I basked in Hasbro's 3 3/4" goodness. They have done a really great job with these figures.

McFarlane's Simpsons Island of Dr. Hibbert

At the end of the World of Springfield line, there was one last Tree House of Horror in the works, that never made it into plastic. For whatever reason, Fox really wanted the Manimals and the collectors really wanted a mixed Halloween figure set which you can see here. It is too bad we never got to see either set, but now with the McFarlane line of Simpsons figures, we get to see The Island of Dr. Hibber set and some very cool Manimals.

Toynami's Futurama Series 2: Leela and Zap

Toynami has released their second wave of Futurama figures consisting of Leela and Zap Brannigan. Zap is also packed with Richard Nixon's head, which is very cool as well as more pieces of the Robot Devil. Now we are just missing his legs. While not perfect, the figures are pretty good overall and I can't wait for more. And hopefully they will release more heads in a jar. Top on my list would be Al Gore's head in a jar.

Serenity: Better Days

Serenity is returning to comics once again, this time with the three issue story Better Days. Joss Whedon and Brett Mathews team up for the story and it seems to fit in perfectly with the series. The characters all seem right on target and there it captures that great mix of action and humor from the show. It is set before the movie so all your favorite characters are back. The story begins with the crew stealing art, or are they after something else?? We get a pretty cool chase scene and of course at the end something unexpected happens. Definitely has me wanting the next issue.

The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home

Roland and his ka-tet are on the run, Susan is dead and The Dark Tower comic continues. The second Dark Tower limited series has hit comic stores and it continues right where the last series ended. While the first story resolved around events in Wizard and Glass, this story is generally new material. This time we see Roland, Alain and Bert as they begin their journey back to Gilead with Maerlyn's Grapefruit. But with Clay Reynolds, the last of the Big Coffin Hunters, after them they won't have an easy road. And Sheemie returns only to wander into somewhere he shouldn't.

Cloverfield is a must see...

The problem with movies that are hyped up, just as Cloverfield has been, is that while they are often good, they still leaving you feeling a little disappointed. But that is definitely not the case with Cloverfield. While the beginning may feel a little long as you sit in anticipation for the action to begin, once it does it is the movie does a great job pulling the audience in. While some may be bothered by the "shaky cam" of the movie, I thought it did an amazing job of putting the audience right into the movie, in a way that few other movies are able to.
