I was a big fan of the 200x line of Masters of the Universe and when the released the classics, they seemed to be a step back and I wasn't into them. But as the line goes on between the improving designs and great character selection I'm becoming very interested in the line. But between the problems ordering online and the costs of the figures, as cool as the line is, I'm glad I'm not trying to collect this line. So here are some suggestions as to some things Mattel could do to draw me in.
1. Keep some core characters available at all times. I don't think they need to keep all of the characters on the online shelf at all times, but it would be great if nothing else He-Man and Skeletor were always available. Which brings me to my next point...
2. Re-release the main characters in sets. It would be great if I could go back and get most of the main characters in a couple of sets instead of waiting for them to re-released one at a time or searching ebay. They could release a Hero's set with He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Teela and Stratos and a Villain's set with Skeletor, Beast Man, Mer Man and Trap Jaw. This would really allow collector's to get into the line at a later time. This would also help save on shipping.
3. If a figure sells out in less than a day, then let the figure go on back order for everyone who doesn't get in on the initial run. I understand they don't want figures sitting around in their warehouse and to be able to get them to collectors right away, but this would be much better than the current situation where some of the biggest fans are left out in the cold. If I could choose between having to wait a few months or not getting the figure at all I would much rather wait a little longer.
4. Give more options to combine when figures are sent to save on shipping. One of the biggest things holding me back, is that I have to pay shipping on each figure. I know they have an option in the subscription to ship several figures together, but it would be great if they expanded this feature. So I could keep accumulating figures until I'm ready to ship.
5. Open up the line to some online stores. They could keep exclusivity for a limited time and then sell an allotment to online stores. And they could still keep some figures to themselves. This would just give collectors more options which is always a good thing.
