Is the Clone Wars as terrible as everyone says

Going into The Clone Wars, I was expecting to either be really annoyed or really dislike a lot of the movies. Most of the reviews I have seen have been fairly negative, though I have seen a few positive reviews out there. Maybe because I already knew of the problems, or maybe because I wasn't expecting anything more than a cartoon aimed at kids, I actually thought the movie was a lot of fun and pretty good.

The movie starts out with the Clone Wars in full swing, with Anakin and Obi-Wan in the midst of a battle alongside their clone army. I found the battles to be pretty cool. Lots of destruction on both sides. Ahsoka is introduced as Anakin's new Padawan and she fit in nicely in between Obi-Wan and Anakin and helped develop his character as having to move from student to teacher. The relationship between the three feels very much like it did between Obi-Wan and Anakin did in the prequels and they did a good job keeping the characters true to the movies. On the other side we see Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress leading the droid armies. With Dooku manipulating the events of the movie, he send out his assassin Asajj to do the dirt work. Asajj kicks ass in the movie!! There are a couple duels in the movie and of course anything with Asajj is awesome.

Now there are some problems with the movie. Jabba's son is a baby and acts like a baby, so if that doesn't fit into Star Wars for you then you won't like that. Jabba's uncle is probably every bit as bad as Jar Jar, if not worth, but unlike Jar Jar, he isn't in the whole movie and only in a little bit at the end. And if you didn't like the politics of the prequels there is a bit of that in here as well.

So while the movie isn't perfect, overall I thought the action was great and I really liked the main characters. Asajj is awesome as usual. So if you go in looking to watch a Clone Wars cartoon show originally intended for television, you might just have a good time.
