The two weeks are up and the big announcement from Nine Inch Nails is Gosts I-IV, a 36 track instrumental release. The first release since his record deal has expired and Trent is exploring releasing music and he seems to be right on track. You can get the first 9 track for free, just enter your email address and you'll be sent a download link. For $5 you can download all 36 tracks, bring that up to $10 and you get a CD sent to you. And for those hardcore fans there is a $75 deluxe version with a DVD and Blu-Ray disc or a $300 version with everything plus a book and 2 Glicees signed by Trent Reznor. The set looks awesome!!
If you aren't sure if you will like the music you can stream it to your computer. Hopefully others will take notice because everything about this is the right way to release music. And judging by how hard it is to get into the site it looks like it is a success.
Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."
If you are trying to access this tonight though, prepare to be patient as the servers are getting slammed.
