Angel has returned

Following in Buffy's footsteps, Angel is back, this time in comic book form. Angel: After the Fall picks up after the amazing ending of season 5. Instead of starting out right after the end of the show time has passed and L.A. has gone to hell. Infested with demons, dragons and vampires, our Hero is dealing with the aftermath of his decision to take on Wolfram & Heart. While we don't yet get to see what befell Illyria and Spike, there are some big surprises for some of our other characters as well as a few other familiar faces.

While the story is just introducing us to this new L.A., it should draw you in right away. Each page pulls you further into Angel's latest struggle and we start to see how Angel is dealing and as usual that is by kicking some ass. And while the dialog is good, it doesn't get in the way of some great action.

The artwork is somewhat stylized and the characters all look good. The demons all look great. Franco Urru did a great job staging the action in the book. While cover A isn't anything exciting cover B is pretty cool if you were lucky enough to find it.

It looks like Angel season 6 comic run is going to have quite a few surprises. If you haven't checked this out make sure to pick up a copy. And I can't wait for the next issue where we get to find out what Spike has been up to since L.A. went to Hell...
